Alexander Dedov's work "1566" is the author's interpretation of alternative history and unusual mechanisms that might have existed during the Middle Ages.
The sculpture depicts a historical mechanism for displaying the equine beauty that has intrigued mankind throughout time. Like a child, medieval man seeks to explore the mystery of the anatomy, proportions, and muscles of the magnificent creature and to decompose the beauty into its component parts.
The author also gives the object a symbolic meaning: the cruel mechanism which deprives the horse of its freedom embodies circumstances and situations which limit the power of man and his aspirations.
