Alexander Dedov's sculpture "Self-Denial" explores the process of forming a false identity through the rejection of true aspirations. If a person is aware of his desires and passions but renounces them in favor of comfort and the path of least resistance, he commits a grave crime against his own soul. By renouncing his essence, man himself cuts off a part of himself, loses his identity, and becomes a hostage to an inferior existence.
