The sculpture "1933" reflects the author's interpretation of the tragic event in Russian history - the period when a mass starvation gripped the country. The emaciated head of the horse, eating poisonous mushrooms at the threshold of imminent death, symbolizes the desperation of the people, forced to eat anything that can be eaten, in a doomed struggle for life.
