The "Bonsai" series is based on the Asian art of growing trees in miniature. Growing trees in Japan is a separate kind of leisure activity, associated with skill, that also requires the art of admiring these trees upon completion. In Denis Kulikov's space flora, the branches and leaves of the "Bonsai" tree take on a new form, that, according to the artist, corresponds to the universe around them.
